CSM is a long-established company based in Turin, with 30 years of experience building and overhauling a wide range of multi-brand spindles and motorized spindles: bearing-supported, hydrostatic and hydrodynamic.

Our history

1956

La Panebianco Francesco

Founded in Turin by Panebianco Francesco. Like many businesses of the time, it began in a garage, doing subcontracted turning work. It soon expanded its operations to include milling machines to provide greater added value. The following year, it hired a couple of employees and brought his sons, Aldo and Remigio, into the business. Remigio would go on to drive the company forward, raising both its technical and organizational standards, for example by introducing modern production control processes much like those used today.

1965

A new facility

The company moved to larger new premises on via Sansovino. The new facility enabled the installation of new machinery and brought in an ever-growing number of important clients, including SKF, SPA (which later became IVECO), MST (now COMAU), and others.

1972

Pi.Effe snc is founded

La Panebianco Francesco becomes Pi.Effe snc, with shares split equally between the two sons, Aldo and Remigio. During this period, the workshop increasingly specializes in building complex mechanical assemblies and special machine tools for metal cutting, both to its own designs and to customer designs.

1993

The new workshop

Pi.Effe is moving to its new facility on Strada del Francese.

1996

A new Managing Director

The company’s current CEO, Panebianco Franco, son of Mr. Remigio, joins the management team, marking the arrival of the third generation.

2000

Facility expansion

The acquisition of a second workshop brought our production facilities to 1,000 m² and our offices to 400 m².

2006

C.SM. srl is founded

The experience gained through 12 years of collaboration with Gamfior, the leading manufacturer of motor spindles, led Pi.Effe to establish a dedicated company for the overhaul and manufacture of spindles and motor spindles: C.S.M. srl – short for Centro Servizi Mandrini.

2012

Pi.Effe-CSM srl

The two companies merge to form  Pi.Effe-CSM srl

2024

C.S.M. Srl

C.S.M. srl incorporates the historic Pieffe brand, focusing exclusively on the manufacture and overhaul of bearing-mounted and hydrostatic/hydrodynamic spindles and motor spindles.
